Meet The Author And The Illustrator

I am passionate about not only telling a good story, but living a good story as well. Writing and publishing a book has always been a dream of mine. I was encouraged to begin writing as a young child by my grandfather, Henry Clay Ferree, who was a writer for the Winston-Salem Journal and Sentinel. I couldn’t imagine anything better than following in his footsteps.

I am inspired by the stories all around me. Children love to talk and share. As an elementary school counselor for the last twenty years in Canton Georgia, I have helped children solve hundreds of problems much like the ones Wyatt is faced with in the Wyatt series. I am continually amazed and encouraged by my students’ creativity, enthusiasm and courage. Through the Wyatt stories, I hope to empower many more children to become successful problem solvers.

In addition to writing, I enjoy coaching and speaking to groups about understanding personality styles, setting and reaching goals and living your dreams. Traveling is another favorite pastime and I write a column,  Destinations for Sixes Living Magazine.

My rewarding role however, has been that of parent to my two creative and talented daughters, Laura, 30 and Hayley, 27. It has been an honor and a privilege to encourage them to discover and achieve their dreams.

Pam Gardner, the illustrator, uses her experience as a retired elementary art teacher, as well as the antics of her beloved dogs and cats,  to provide inspiration for illustrating the predicaments in which Wyatt finds himself.  She likes to spend time painting, hiking, biking, watching movies with her family and playing with her grandson Trevor.  She also enjoys the many challenges of serving teens as a high school youth minister for a small Catholic church.  Pam lives in the North Georgia countryside with her biggest art fan, husband, Glenn.
